SYDNEY, This Day. Another hot day was recorded throughout the State,' many temperatures in the country exceeding 100 degrees. In the city 88j was registered. As a, consequence of two hot days. Sydney’s watersupply is in a dangerous position. The Water Board is compelled to distribute supplies in several'thickly populated suburbs within a t.hroQ*inile radius of the city with buckets from tanks on motor lorries. The hoard has forbidden the use of sprinklers. The officials explain that if an outbrcik of iiie occurs it is doubtful whether there is si.tficicnt pressure in the principal mains to enable the flames to be subdued. The board lias a vyear’s supply of water at Cataract Dam, but is unable to tiring it into the city owing to the material for the reticulation being completely exhausted.
