Intimation has been received hy Mr F. C. J. C'ockburn, Director of the Nelson Technical School, that Miss F. C. Paterson, B.Sc. the newly appointed instructor in home science, etc, as successor to Miss Metcalfe, B.Sc, will com--mence her duties on .Monday,' 20th 4nst. Miss Paterson, who is a daughter of Mr Win.; Paterson, of Atawhai, Nelson, is a graduate in home science at the University of Otago and lias for the past i 1 two years been on the staff of the home science department as lecturer in home science to the Teachers’ Training College, Dunedin. Testimonials from Professors Boycs-Smith and Rawson and from Miss" Pulling, head mistress of Auckland diocesan high school for girls show that Miss Paterson is highly qualified to teach the domestic science subjects as cookery, needlework, laundry work and physiology; also chemistry, physics and biology to pupils preparing for university and scholarship examinations.

Lieut.-Col. C. H. Burgess, C.M.G., D. 5.0., Major P. B. Henderson. M.C., and Captain A. E. Conway .will arrive in Nelson to-morrow morning from Picton. They will inspect the Nelson College Cadets at 10.30 a.in. in the Piiddiford Cup Competition. The Rev, G. IT. Gibb loaves this evening for Wellington en route to the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church meeting at Auckland.
