At a recent meeting of the Wanganui Borough Council it was contended that £2 per point was unreasonably high for the. cost of electric light wiring. In consequence of this, householders in Waj nganui were not installing the light. One councillor declared that if the council 'was going to sell "juice'' it would need to deal with the question quickly. He suggested that the council should undertake wiring on a 10 per cent, basis. Another councillor said if the firms operating in Wanganui had not their heads together it was remarkable that their prices.were so close together. Unless the council took some action there would not be a great deal of wiring done. The price for wiring was about 25s a point in Wellington. Another councillor mentioned how one electrician who had been wiring at 27s 6d a point had said: "I am not allowed to do it under £2 a point now." The council allocated £SOOO for! the purpose of assisting householders to wire their premises.
