MEETING OF COUNTY COUNCIL At tlio monthly meeting of the Collingvvootl County Council the following were present; Chairman (A. 11. Fletcher), Crs. 1.. Flowers, A. Welker, J. Richards, C. 1.. Grant, and E. James. The Chairman moved a vote of sympathy with Cr. Tyree in his illness, wishing him a speedy and complete recovery. Seconded by Cr. Flowers and carried. Accounts tota lling £346 Its were passed for payment. CORRESPONDENCE From the Under Secretary, Alines Department, advising that the matter of a grant for the Ouakaka Beach road has been referred to the Public Works Department, who have been requested to give it consideration. From the Waimea County Council, inviting the Council to ha represented at a meeting convened for 4th October to consider the position in regard to sanitary inspection and infectious disease work. From the Alodicfll Ofiicor of Health re contributions of local authorities for infectious disease work and general sanitation, and asking the Council to contribute £2B Qer annum towards the inspector’s salary, and that the inspector will be asked to furnish a quarterly report and notify the Council when lie is \ isitmg Dm district.

Resolved that’ the Public Health Department be written to pointing out that the inclusion of Collingwood in area subject to regulations under “The Phniibers’ Registration Act” might create hardship in that the district is not large enough to suppox't a licensed plumber, and the calling in of one from outside districts will make small repairs very expensive. Public Trustee, Wellington, advising that the loan money has been forwarded to the Panic of Now Zealand, and that the interest commences as from, the 4th inst.

The Superintendent, State Advances Office, advised that the Board had resolved to entertain the Council's application for a loan of £IOOO for the Daturan road. The currency of the loan is to be 361 years at 41 per cent, per annum.

An inspection was made of the culvert opposite Mr Teagues’ property on the main road. The outlet side has scoured out about a font below the culvert, a layer of manuka, and a load of stones is all that is required. The grader is engaged on the main road between Kaituna Bridge and Clay Creek. The crate in Ronnv Doon stream on Jamieson’s byroad is completed.—Pakawau riding The contractor for Marble Creek bridge is making preparation for starting the bridge. The material should he to hand in a few days. Westhaven riding.—The Paturau road contract is not yet completed. General. —It is noticeable in several eases that stock drovers have a lot of I I rouble at approaches to some of the bridges. The following approaches could he improved by fencing on each side of the road at an angle of 45deg.— Rua-Taniwha Bridge, Scrimgeour’s Creek Bridge, Aorere Bridge. The cost would he about £1 at each place. Resolved that a sot of pipes be put in at Diamonds on Rockville by-road. Resolved that Cr. Richards he authorised to get corduroy repaired on Westhaven mud flat, that the approach to the sports ground he repaired, and the Engineer prepare an estimate of cost of fencing the -old cemetery. The date of next meeting was fixed for 4th September.
