OLD-AGE PENSIONS
FOR ALL WORKERS
(Sweeping proposals, which include Hie provision of old-age pensions for all workers, are contained in a .Bill which has been submitted to_ Congress by Mr AI vara Obregon, President of the Republic of Mexico, according to an article in the latest issue of Industrial and Labour Information, the weekly publication of the Intenjafiona] Labour Office f of the League of Nations at Geneva.
The Bill applies to all workers, whatever their afro and sex, resident in Mexico, and “any person executing work for a wage or salary is deemed to be a worker.” At the demand of the worker the State will grant a pension amounting to: 40 per cent, of the average wage after 30 years’ work; 55 per cent, of the average wage after 40 years’ work; 70 per cent, of the average wage after 50 years’ work. The Bill also provides, with regard to life insurance, that the State shall pay to the family of any worker who dies
