.Mr F. K. tinnZtjZToi Wellington, is at present in Nelson. Bishop Sadlier and Canon Smith were outward passengers by the »•«, Ngaio last night. Ur. Tillyard, of the Gawthrou Institute, arrived by the s.s. Nikau this morning. Mr Frank W. E. Bush, Auckland manager of the Bank of Australasia, collapsed while dancing at the annual bank ball, and died immediately, the cause of death was heart failure.—-iress Association. Mr F. G. Jennings, Telegraph Engineer, Napier district, retired on final leave prior to superannuation, as from; the Ist inst, Mr Jennings’ first appointment was as message boy at Nelson u* 1882. This was followed by transfer to Greymoulb, in charge of the first telephone exchange there. Knowledge of Morse operating, acquired in his private time, soon procured a cadetship at Christchurch. Various transfers found .Mr Jennings eventually stationed at Blenheim, where a close study of the telegraph translating system and success in the Department s first technical examination led to promotion to the engineer’s branch. Since then service has been seen in Christchurch, Blenheim, Wellington and finally at Napier, in charge of the Hawke’s Bay telegraph engineer’s district.
