PLUNKED SOCIETY MEETING

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

At the monthly meeting of the, above Society nine members were present and several .apologies were received from ladies who were unable to attend. The Plunket nurse reported that the room had been better attended; during the past mouth, forty-five mothers and thirty-three babies having been interviewed. The,. new scales are a great acquisition and some successful test feeds have been given, the mothers be* ing very satisfied and grateful for the help. Orinoco was visited on September 13th, twelve adults and eight babies being present. On September 27tb the Nurse was at Takftka, five adults, two babies and two- homes fating visited. AiU the babies, with one exception, are progressing well.

Accounts amounting to ' £l3/18/4 were passed for payment. The secretary acknowledged the receipt of £5/2/6 from Mrs Guy and Miss Durbridge on behalf of the Wanderers’’ Football Club, part being proceeds firom the sale of cakes> flowers and tea dn the football grounds, and part from the .sale of colours for the Seddou Shield match. It was resolved that . the ladies bffl thanked for (heir help and practical sympathy. It was agreed that Uia funds collected by the special efforts that have been made recently should' be divided equally between the Blanket Society and the Mothers’ Help. The secretary reported that the. Mothers' Help had had very few. calls forthis past month, though she was at present at a case that would keep her employed for three weeks. The. notice of motion given at the last meeting was tebughfc forward, and after'a good deal of discussion with regard to the financial ride of thiffgs it was agreed that the Mothers’ Help service should be discontinued after - November 50th. Much regret was expressed that the schema should have to lapse, but owing to the lack of funds no other course, presents itself. ,

Some further discussion took place in regard to raising funds, for the Plunket work, and the President hoped that members would bring forward some suitable scheme at the next meeting.
