MR SLADE RESIGNING CHAIRMANSHIP (United Press Association.) .WELLINGTON, This Day. At .the meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Union last night there was a debate over Chairman G. W. Slade’s action regarding the recent hurriedly arranged Wellington tour to Auckland. Correspondence on the subject from Auckland was read, and on Mr VVylie’s motion that the chairman’s action in connection there with be endorsed Mr Little moved an amendment that in all such cases in future the chairman con\ene a meeting of the committee. The chairman pointed oat. that the . matter was argent and lie was unable to get in touch with a quorum of the . committee when a position was readied requiring a definite and prompt decision. Several members objected to important matters being decided without consulting the committee: The chairman ruled the amendment out of order and the motion endorsing his action was carried. Mr Little’s amendment was then moved as a new motion and canted, whereupon Mr Slade left the chair, but after some discussion was prevailed upon to • resume it. E,e announced, however, that he would give notice of resignation and a new chairman could be appointed at the next meeting.
