The death of Air Peter ChaUeiton (winch occurred on Friday last) lias removed the last surviving son of Mr Joseph Cbatterton, of Rye, near Hastings. His brothers were, Dr. James Chatierton, Mr Dolves Chattel-ton (for many years C.E. Alissionary in India), Air Stanh.im Cbatterton and Mr Spencer Chatierton, of Bank of England. His first cousin was the Rev. King Smith of Lamhridge, Bath, mathematics mastei - of King’s College. The fate Air Peter Chatterton joined the service of the London County Bank, Lombard Street, at iite age of 19,'and ’continued•there for the full term of 40 years, Holding the position of Share Registrar. He retired m the year 1910, on the ground of illhealth, and after spending 10 years in ' Colchester, ‘ decided to emigrate to New Zealand, principally with a view of obtaining improved health conditions for his two young children. With his wife ami family, he arrived,. in Nelson in August last, and purchased a house in Wairnea Road, where ho Ayas residing at the time 6! his decease/
