An American wrote to Mr Rudy aid Kipling “Dear Sir.—l hear that yon retail wisdom at tho rate of one dollar per word. I enclose one dollar—please send sample.’' The famous author's reply took the form of a post-card, on the hack of which appeared the one word, “Thanks!" above his signature. After a lapse of some weeks the American wrote again :—“Dear Sir, —I sold your “Thanks’ for two dollars. Enclosed please find SO rents., being your share' of the profits.” “Robert! Robert! Here’s another car rounding the corner. How shall I steer;’’ “Try to hit it, mother; try to hit it.”
