GERMANY AND REPARATIONS
REPLY TO ALLIED DEMAND

LONDON, April 10
Tlic Daily News Berlin correspondent slates that the principal points ol’ the German reply to the Allied demands are, firstly, rejection of the demand to raise £46,000,000 by now taxation; secondly, a demand for an investigation of the capacity to pay on the basis of the Peace Treaty ; thirdly, Germany is unable to pay cash' without a foreign loan; fourthly, tho reply stresses the grave economic and social conditions provoked by rising prices ami inadequate wagesfifthly, Germany is prepared to submit a statement of the financial and economic situation. The reply emphasises that if foreign money is not available during 1922 famine confronts the population, and insists that only through a foreign loan can the reparations be payable.
