The Chicago Tribune's Tokio correspondent stales that as a jircliminary to Washington Gonl'erenee representat-ives of Japan's big business men will meet in Chicago to lay down Hie policy to he pursued by the official Japanese delegates to the Conference. Dr Tukuimi. Dan. managing director of vast Mitsui in!crests, is eu route hearing a. message concerning Japan’s new - budget, which ii is considered the Government will be unable to raise. It is understood ihat Dr Dan therefore means to impress upon tlie official delegation the absolute necessity of effecting an agreement on a reduet ion of armaments. LONDON. Oct. 29.
Baron Hayashi, speaking at- a luncheon here, said; "If we go to Washington in the proper spirit- 1 hn-ve no doubt we shall achieve success which will he equally satisfactory to America and all of us. I am happy to notice Hm growing -sentiment, favouring Noser friendship between America and I>nlain. I hope and believe the same, sentiment will grow between America and Japan.” (Cheers).
