DOVEDALE (From Our Own Correspondent.) A very successful social and dance was held in the Dovodulc Hall on Friday last in aid of the newly-formed Football Club, and despite the .stormyweather there was a good attendance from the surrounding districts, Mr and Mrs Kenyon snpplieid the music, dancing being kept up till an cail\ hour in tho morning^ ORINOCO At the monthly _ meeting of the Orinoco School Committee, many matters of interest came_under discussion. It was decided to go into the matter of improving the school grounds by the planting of suitable shrubs, etc., and hv doing seme necessary shingling at the main entrance. The chairman s action at the meeting called by the Education Board to adjust certain boundaries, was endorsed. It was decided to join the Motuoka District School Committees’ Association. Several outstanding accounts were passed for payment, and the meeting terminated with a discussion on geneial school matters.

Williamson and Co. tapawera FANCY DRESS BALL Overwhelming success greeted the promoters of the fancy dress ball, organised hy the Druid’s Lodge, and held in the Tapawera Hall on the 14th inst. A large number present were attired in fancy dresses, the ef-' feet being both pretty and amusing.'' Prize's were given to the best fancy and poster dress which were decided hv vote. Miss Hudson earned oft the lit prize for lies! fancy dress, and Miss Biggs won the poster prize. The winners of the men’s prizes were Messrs A. Steer and »S. benemor, reseed ivelv. Dancing was kept, up till the small hours. The music was supplied hv Mr 11. Williams, of Nelson, ami Messrs A. ami TL Biggs earned out I lie. duties of M.C. s. the ladies committee were in charge of ( an excellent. sit-down supper. My S.
