Overseer’s report.- I nai the work on Hurst’s and Stewart's Hoad was nearly finished, weather conditions delaying the completion of Hie job, ■ it "being ton web to use the grader. I would recommend toe Hoard's lavourable •consideration to Mr Sullivan’s application for a progress payment of tide on ibis work. Mr Sullivan was authorised to do various small works in Redwood's \ alley which have been delayed for some considerable time. A culvert near Mr Harley’s property, Redwood’s Valley, having fallen in, lias been attended to; also the bridge at the lower end tc hives’ \ alley has had several new planks put in. Water tables on Hill Road are receiving attention, which should put tills road in fair order for the wiraer. I would suggest that a 3in. coat of metal be put on the now road from Redwood’s Valley to Appleby Estate, the Board to contribute £1 for Cl. up to £‘3o provided the Applolands syndicate and the settlers provide a like amount, as seeing the road has been formed it would j»e a prt.v to let it go back. The Board has already spent considerably on this road, so now the syndicate ought to redeem its promise to assist in the metalling. Tim report was adopted. A|ter discussing this matter, it was decided that Hie 'secretary write to the County Council, asking il to take over this road, seeing that it is a through road and ought to be a county road, as the County Chairman stated. The secretary intimated that the road which Messrs Russ and Ghaliies desired the Hoard to form is not shown on the Road Board plan of the district. 'Hie matter was deferred for further details. Owing to gorse encroachments on various roads, the secretary was instructed to notify owners- of such frontages to dear the gorse off .the road. The matter of we,ter tables requiring attention in Redwood’s Valley was left to Mr Maisey with power to ac-t. Accounts amounting to £167 ns Bci were passed for payment. The, secretary .procured a supply of poisoned wheat for small birds destruction. The Chairman agreed to distribute same. ,
