FINAL FIRST ROUND CUP MATCHES The last matches of the. first round for the Association Cup were played at the Victory Square last Saturday. The play is now attracting great crowds and the fascination of tin? game is evidenced by the intense excitement along the touchlme while the leather is “bouncing. From the centre play again wont to Athletic goal and after a little give and take goalie Mansell carried too far and a free kick by Richards found the net. Both sides now began to play fast, and short quick passes saw the advantage pass from one to the other. Wanderers again got away led by Rogers and from a quick pass Spenser landed. Soon after Rogers netted the 4th goal. Shortly before time Cowman sent in the fifth for Wanderers. Mr H. S. Claughton refereed. CELTIC (2) UNITED (0).

Albertson sent play to midfield and a few short rushes resulted in United backs doing hard work in defence. • They cleared and players again went to Celtic goal. Shanaghan fumbled, and Hunt sent in another shot which was saved in the goal mouth by Celtic’s back. Another rush by Celtic saw tjhe ball through United’si goal, but a foul enabled them to clear. Another shot was well saved to corner by Maden. The half whistle sounded with no scores. Play recommenced with United very aggressive and goalie Shanaghan again busy. Play kept in the penalty foi a time, and Unified forwards shot several ineffective shots. Celtic's goal overstrided and a free kick by Jackson pierced the first lino and was well saved again by Shanaghan. Shortly after a penalty kick against' Celtic again looked like a score, but) Shanaghan relieved tho position again, and from a break away tho Celtic forwards beat tho field and Satherley notched first score. Play centred for a while, until Celtic forwards again broke awav and McDonnell again scored. With ten minutes to go United again pressed, but no further score resulted . Mr Parkinson refereed.
