A young woman whose name is given an Maud Taylor stepped or foil off a slowly moving tramear in Manners street. last evening and became jammed under the rear bogie. The car had to be jacked off Hie woman's body. Both legs were mangled, one being practically completely severed. A doctor had to cut the muscles and tendons with a knife in order to release the woman, who was taken to the hospital. 1-1 or. condition is critical.
The crowd pressed round the car in an unseemly fashion during the accident, impeding the work of rosette. Later.
The victim of yesterday's tramway accident died at the "Wellington Hospital at 2.45 o'clock this morning.
