COLD STORAGE GE APPLES
OBSERVATIONS TO BE MADE Some few weeks ago cold store engineers in thp district formed an association to further the interests of the work. It was felt that something could bo done by such an association in the way of improving the cold-storage results. The Director of the Cawthron Institute (Professor Easterfield) was waited upon, and he promised to give engineers assistance in their work. The organisation of this year’s work was left in. Professor Easterfield’s hands, and he has prepared cards for the.proper recording of the necessary details. This year’s experiments will have reference "to Delicious and -Stunner apples picked and stored under various conditions. Professor Eastcrtield has sob out. the forms for gathering the information required. The first form to be filled in is as follows: —Sender; name of apple; age of tree; date of picking; condition of orchard; when; ploughed; when disced; when harrowed; pruning—light or heavy lateral or spur : dates, of spraying, sprays used; series number; name of store; state of .ripeness; date of despatch to store; case number.;, There will then he a ease label Setting forth the following: Name of sender; series number; date of despatch; dates of examination; name;of __ apple; case number - date of placing in- cold store. . Data.on the above lines should prove Cf interest and advantage for the first year...
