HAYWARD'S PICTURES i I.'.APACIIF. "L'Apacho," the Paramount-Art! craft presentation at Hayward' j tonight is a story of the Parisian underworld vibrating with power. Dorothy Dal ton is wonderful in a dual role, appearing as Natalie Bourgot, the yviie of an Apache of Paris, and as Helen Forbes, an American woman living under unhappy conditions with her husband in the French capital. The plot revolves around Helen "being ashamed to meet her grandfather because el the worldly lite she has led. She induces Natalie, a younger girl, who resembles her, to take her place. The deception works, but unforeseen events bring about a climax of tromen dous power. Forbes, Helen's brutal husband, is found dead and Helen herself has disappeared. Natalie therefore is arrested and brought to trial. "There is nothing unusual in. this case," concluded the prosecuting attorney. "Just the story of a wife seeking revenue unon n husband who has wronged her." These words fairly stunned the woman to whom they referred. She had never met the man but once! And here th&y said he was her husband, and charged her with his murder! As a nerve tonic, a "blues" chaser, and an eye invigonnor the Paramount comedy, "A Lady's Tailor" is great. Much of its action takes place at a summer resort, where many innovations and frolics are introduced, including a bathing suit dar.ee «n the beach by- moonlight. Altogether an attractive programme.
