The Chicago Courts dismissed the indictments against the baseball players charged with conspiring to allow opponents to win the 1920 world series, on the application of the State prosecutor, who announced that the State's case collapsed owing to repudiation of confessions bv players. The trial of gamblers who allegedly bribed the players, has been indefinitely postponed.' The prosecution's action caused amazement in sports circles in America, who are anxious to clear away all suspicion attached to professional baseball.
