AERODROME AT BLENHEIM, The early inauguration of an aerial mail service between Christchurch and Marlborough ig expected to bo materially hastened by the decision of loading ■Blenheim residents to erect a hangar near Blenheim. Captain Dickson, of the Canterbury Aviation Company, and Captain Isitt, representing th© Air Board, arrived in Blenheim for the purpose of selecting a suitable aerodrome. After careful in--ipection, they selected an area of 60 acres of level, clear land two miles out of Blenheim. Tile Progress Committee of the Marlborough Chamber of Commerce, which has had the matter of aviation before it since Captain Dickson’s last visit, called a meeting, at which the Mayor of Blenheim and members of local bodies were present. Captain Dickson and Captain Isitt gave an interestig outline of the proposed services, one of which, between Blenheim and Christchurch, is likely to be started at any time. As soon as a hangar was provided, Captain Dickson said, his company would, station an Avro machine at Blenheim permenently. Concerning the cross-Straits service, that some months must elapse ere it was started, as a flying boat or seaplane would have to be pro- - cured to enable a landing to be made •- on Wellington Harbour.
