NELSON BAND CONTEST

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A Committee meeting of tbe Nelson Band Contest was held at tile Council Chambers last evening. The Mayor (Mf. W. /W. Discussion ensued as to where' the marching contest should take placeThe area of ground available at the Botanical 'Reserve is too small, and it was'stated that Trafalgar Park would not accommodate in comfort'the lapg® crowd expected to be present, v A'suggestion was made that the marching contest: should be held) aj/ Richmond Park, and it was : eventually, left to the Executive Committee to report to the next meeting; as was also the price to be charged for season tickets. ;> The secretary reported that approximately there would be 400 soloists, 41 quartettes, and 20 trios competing at th© contest. Several other matter's were dealt with, and the meeting adjourned.
