“I wanted to kill the Kaiser,” is thh excuse offered by a soldier named Boucher being tried by court-martial at Marseilles for desertion. Boucher was discovered by the Allied Commission of Control in the civil prison at Danzig, in November, 1919. He" first stated be was a prisoner of war detained by the Germans. ■'When, however, it was pointed, out that he had deserted, from his depot in France several months after the armistice, he said that he made his way acrois Belgium with the : dea of reaching Holland and punishing the " es> Kaiser for his crimes. . • - ‘-v ' From a. train bound for the French frontier Boucher escaped, and, haying, secured a revolver and some hand grenades, made a second alterant to reach. Amerongen. . . ,Hc was arrested hv the Dutch frontier guards, disarmed, and sent hack to Germany. Finally, at' Cologne, he was once • more taken into custody by the French gendarmes.
