Eventnall> Lord Derby irately exclaimed, ‘ It wo cannot have-the wool at onr own price wo can withhold ships and prevent ■you marketing.” This caused an impasse. Finally Lord Forster said, “Let ns give the 55 per cent.’ Lord Derbv said, 78 ‘Then we shall be able to have our dinner, and perhaps earn a reputation as patriots for stiengtnening the bonds of Empire.”
