STORMY VOYAGE FROM NEWCASTLE
BARQUENTINE E. R. STIRLING (Onited Press Association) AUCKLAND, This Day. The six-raasted barquentine E, R. Stirling, which arrived from Newcastle yesterday, - met with tempestuous weather on the voyage. During the height of the storm, mainsail, mizzen, and two top-gallant sails were blown away. An exceptionally big sea which came aboard shifted the ’midship deckhouse, which was used as quarters for apprentices. The bunks and contents were washed away. The .water also flooded the cabin and did much damage to the ships stores. An apprentice sustained a broken arm and was almost washed overboard. The ship’s carpenter and mate received minor injuries.
