MESOPOTAMIA
* AUTHORITIES’ RETICENCE CONDEMNED. (Bv Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Australian & N.Z. Cable Association) LONDON, June 13. The Times, in a leader, condemns the reticence of' the authorities regarding the attack on British Mesopotamia, and declares that the concealment ot unfavourable news can no longer bo •tolerated. There has been too much secrecy as to the military operations in Mesopotamia. Permanent occupation might involve continuous war tare which would be more costly tban the frontier operations. The latter are defrayed by the Indian Exchequer, whereas the .adventures in Mesopotamia and Persia are chargeable on the Home Budget.
