ACCIDENT AT PURAMAHOI

OCCUPANTS THROWN OuT OF A TRAP. A. serious, accident- occured at Puramahoi between 2 and 3 o’clock on ,Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Bruce, wife of .Mr. Jas. Bruce, formerly of Nelson, together with lior three children, aged 14, 8, and 5 years respectively, was driving a pony trap, and collided' with the bridge over the Mil! Stream. The animal played up 3 and the occupants were thrown out. Mr Mason, who was passing at the time, gave valuable assistance, and sent for Dr. Woodward, wild wa.g soon on the scene. It was found that furs Bruce had sustained a. broken leg, both bones of which were fractured, while the children were more or less suffering from cuts anil bruises. Mrs. Bruce was ordered to the Hospital, and was conveyed to Collingwood in the mail car, and t-bence to Nelson by the Hina. The greatest sympathy is felt for the family in their ‘misfortune, which is accentuated by the fact tba, Mr Bruce has just recovered from a long and try ing illness. The pony attached to the trap was considerably cut about the legs, while the vehicle was smashed up.
