ENGINEER’S REPORT. Arising out of the report. It. was resolved that the whole o the property owners concerned b given notice to clear the noxioir weeds off the Moutere Lagoo 1 ; road, and that the work of metal ling same be gone on with as sooi as possible. It was further resolved that tin work forming road at Ruby Ba> be gone on with as soon as the settlers’ contribution of £35 is re ceived. and when labour wa< available. Councilors pointed ou J that a large amount of traffic pas 1 ed over this road. The report was adopted. CORESPONDENCE, The following correspondent was dealt with:— , , From the Department of Agncm tore declaring prickly pear a ous weed. —Resolved that Council take necessary steps. From Public Works Departmem asking if the Council was prepared to use the balance of Government grant in continuing metalling of road through Bronte and String ers towards Appleby Post Office as the Moutere Road Board wer . not in a position to do anything.— It was resolved that the Govern ment be asked to spend tlv amount less the subsidy. From Mr R. P. Hudson, M.P. stating that he was ' heartily no favour of a vigorous imigratioii policy, and forwarding certain information thereto. Writer to be thanked. From the Tupeka County Council, forwarding resolution asking that the present system of hospital levy be altered. —No action taken. From the Secretary, Nelson Auto mobile Association, drawing attention to the disgraceful condition of the Stoke-Richmond road. -Left to Engineer, with power In act.

From twelve settlers, Wai-itL re protective works near Foxhill bridge!—' Left to Engineer. From Mr J. W. Hagen, SpringGrove, drawing attention to -concrete splash between Brightwater and Wairaea West. —Work to be done when cement is available. From Mr Denis Bradley, Riwaka, asking Council to sell old decking off Motneka bridge.— Left to Engineer. I From Mr W. Ryder, Riwaka, re ditch fronting bis property. —Work to be done.

From Mrs G. Grooby, Pangatotara, re Rooky River road.-— ’Work to be preceded with as early as possible. From Mr D. Haining, Mariri, asking permission to pufe x culvert across Montere Inlet road.—Granted.

From Mr L. B. Reynolds, Pokororo, re road near Haycock’s Bush. —Worst portions of road to be gravelled. . From Mr A. Wells, Mapua, re draining swamp.—Engineer to supply necessary information. From Mr J. Allen, Mapua, on behalf of settlers, asking Council to form road leading from properties through Ruby Bay Estate to the main Mapua-Tasman road. - Engineer to report. From eighteen property holders, Tasman, re dangerous state of Phillips’ Creek ford. —Mr Nottage to be asked to attend to any washouts that may occur.

From Mr H. Morrison, Lower Moutere, re drain near Smith's property. Left to Engineer. From secretary Dovedale Farmers' Union, re culvert near Mr S. B. Hodges’.—Extra pipe to be put in.

From M, J. O. Hickey, Sherry, re Sandy Cutting and Slippery

Creek road.—Engineer to visit locality with a view of applying for a grant . From Messrs Wells and Cowin, Stanley, Brook, re road through Mr J. E. O’Dwycr’s section. —Engineer, to report. From Mr F. W. Gibbs, Tapawera. asking if Council would sell gravel reserve adjoining his property.—To be offered for sale. From Mr R. F. Baigent, Wakefield, asking for improvements to ICokaho road.-—Engineer to i-ep'ort. From Mr H. O. Thomas, Wangapeka, re Dari road. - Council to spend £5 on road. From settlers, Tapawera, re Glen Rae road.—Worst portions to be gravelled. From Mr 0. Sloss, Korere, re road leading to. Clarke Valley.-—To be attended to.

From Mr J. Eginton, Motueka, re Wilson’s road ford.—Engineer to report.

From Mr F. G. Large, re Maungatapu track. —Resolved that a few days’ work be done. From Mr R. St dwell, Pangatotava, re road giving access to his property. —That the Engineer ' define the road through Mr Williams’ property as soon as possible. From secretary trustees Foxhill Cemetery, re gorse on road. —Left to clerk. From Mr W- McGaveston, Motueka, re culvert on Motneka -Ngatimoti road. Woi’k already in hand. From Mr L. E. Rhodes, re re Rocky River road. —Resolved that property owners be instructed to clean road of noxious weeds. GENERAL. On the motion of Cr. Macmahon it was resolved to endorse an application for a Governmentgrant for the Rainy River bridge. On the motion of the chairman, it was resolved to combine with the Motueka borough in asking that the Rivers Boundaries Commission be asked to report on the Motueka and certain other rivers : n the county. On the motion of Cr.Macmahon, the Engineer was instructed to report as to a road through Palmer’s property, Clarke Yalley. It was resolved, on the motion of Cr. Drummond, to erect a motor bridge over the creek between Rouse’s and Lines’s. The Council rose at 4 p.m.
