WARSHIP'S NARROW ESCAPE
fßy Electric Telegraph—(Australian & N.Z. Cable Association) HOBART, Feb. 20, The warship Encounter, jly-* ing in the stream, had a narrow escape from mishap. An artificer by mistake opened a valve and the ship filled till the lower boooms were awash. It was feared that beaching would be necessary, and all the ■boats were got out. The application of a collision mat luckily ‘ enabled the closing of the valve. '
