WAIROA Feb 18 A returned soldier named Michael St. Leger Oleary, working on a survey party at Waikokopu, fell off a balcony at Dickson’s Hotel, where he was sleeping last night,' and was so injured that he died shortly afterwards His people formerly lived at Hokitika. MASTERTON Feb 19 A somewhat (sensational occurrence was reported from Greytown last night, involving the death of a man named Thomas Maxwell M‘ln to sh, who is well known in Masterton It appears that M'lntos' went to the township at 7 o’clock on Tuesday evening and engaged a room at the Club Hotel He retired to bed, apparently in good health and spirits At 1.30 o'clock yesterday morning the inmates of the hotel were alarmed by cries for help, and M'lntosh was found on the pavement in front of the building in great pain,* suffering from injuries apparently sustained from a fall- from some height. It is surmised that the unfortunate man fell from his bedroom window while in a state of somnambulism. He was immediately conveyed to Greytown ‘Hospital where all was done that was possible to relieve him, but he passed away during the night.—-Post.
