DIFFICULTIES OF FARMERS,
CHRISTCHURCH, May 25. A remit was before the conference of the Farmers’ Union: “That tho Government be requested to make bettor provision for. receiving and storing wheat next season, than, was made tins year.
In the coarse of the discussion, it was shown that formers wore financially hampered at present,, consequent on being unable to dispose of their wheat, and rn tnanv casos wheat was stored in the fields at the risk of considerable damage. Tho question of an advance on wheat hold was also raised, and to this the .president-, Mr. David Jones replied that there was an. arrangement on tho subject, the details of which ho was not at liberty to make public, but, the merchants had told the wheat-growers about it. Ultimately matters were left in the bands; of tho president to t a^e an y action required.
