The Secretary, la his report to today's meeting of the Education Bbard, mentioned that be had been requested to bring before the Board the possible evil consequences of placing boys who have been committed to the Training Farm at .Stoke in the first place, to -settlrcs’ homes in the district. Complaint was made that in small schools especially .some boarded out boys have exercised! harmful' influences, and it ‘was a quesfc tion. whether the doing away with th© training farm was prudnt under tha circumstances.

The Chairman (Mr Smith) said the position was a senoug one. Boys who were out of parental control should bo placed in some institution. Representations should be made to the Government by the Board, pointing ouf, the difficulties that would arise if training farms were closed. Mr Boyes moved that the ‘Chairman make representations to the Government on the matter. Mr Williams seconded the motion, which was carried.
