Graham, returned to New Zealand about a fortnight ago. He was on the light cruiser Aphia, and Lieut. C. Graham on the P. and 0. Company’s Mantua, which was used as a transport.

Private Albert McNabb, son of Captain McNabb, of Riwaka, is returning to New Zealand on the 27th inst., by th© Pakeha. Private McNabb left New Zealand with the 27th Reinforcements.

Miss Rosina Buckman, the ex-New Zealand soprano, has been experiencing a great run of popularity at the Beecham Victory season of opera at Drury Lane Theatre. The season opened with a novelty in the shape of a British, Opera composed by a woman, a tribute, no doubt, to the part played by the women of the Empire in the war. ■ The opera was “The Boatswain’s Mate,” the music of which is by Dr. Ethel Smyth. Miss Buckman appeared in the leading role, as she did subsequently in Verdi’s “Aida” and other wellknown operas composed by masters of the Allied countries. The operas presented during the season included Mozart’s ever-popular ”Th© Marriage of Figaro.”
