RIOTOUS GATHERINGS IN PARIS.

PARIS, May 1

Infantry and cavalry reinforced the gendarmerie to prevent May Day demonstrators marching to the Place de la Concorde. Firemen urned fire hoses bn the crowd, who twice broke the military cordons. Many heads were broken in baton charges. Another riotous crowd gathered in the Place de , Longera, and shouted, “Down with the Government.” The outlook was uglier at nightfall.

Soldiers and sailors stormed a May Day labour demonstration in Madison Square. Police reserves dispersed the crowds, who left three dead. At Cleveland I.W.W. riots started when soldiers seized a red flag carried in a procession.
