It was Mso decided to nrge the Minister of Lands to open up m or e first-class land in Canterbury for settlement. 1 Several delegates urged that only first-class land should be of* lered ,fo returned soldiers. One delegate gaid that the Canerbury Patriotic Fund Bad found that owing to its mability", to secure suitable in Canterbury for returned j soldiers it had to advance- loans for land to be got in other districts.
