A NEW FIELD GUN.

The Evening Standard states that the Wav Office has decided to issue a new | field gun which was tried successfully in the latest stages of the war. The range of the weapon ■is four . thousand yards greater than .the eighteen-pound-ers, and it has extraordinary steadiness, rivalling the French seventy-five. It fired twenty-eight rounds a minute durihg trials.
