GENERAL AILENBY AT PARIS SETTLED CONDITIONS IN MESOPO--TAMIA. MILITARY CONTROL STILL NECESSARY. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association) (Rec. March 27, 11.25 a.m.) PARIS, March 22. General Sir Edmund Allenby (Commander of the British forces in Palestine) paid a visit to Paris and conferred with memben's of the Peace Conference. He supplied first-hand information regarding Palestine and Mesopotamia. General speaking to the Empire Press representatives, said that civil administration under military supervision was domg good work. Everything, was quiet. The old Turkish laws were-be-ing administered by British officials. When it was remembered that the country- included every shade of nationally raid every shade of religion it was surprising how little trouble had arisen. Wc could not, however; relax military control until perfectly settled conditions obtained. . It was now possible to travel by rail from Constantinople to Cairo. General Allenby. returns forthwith.
