When the Moana was two days from Rarotonga a fireman who had been pnt ashore at Tahiti from the Paloona 1 on that vessel’s upward, trip was seen to jump overboard. A lifebelt was thrown so close to the man that it could have easily been seized, but .no effort was made to secure it.
