DUNEDIN FRUIT AND PRODUCE MARKET,

Messrs Bray Brothers (of Dunedin), Ltd., report as follows for the week ending 17th January, 1919:—• Mutter. —Dairy and separator butter are'meeting with a ready sale. Poultry is arriving freely, and well conditioned birds are eagerly inquired for. Ducklings are wanted, also well conditioned forward cockerels. Vegetables. —All lines are in short supply. Cabbages and cauliflowers are realising excellent prices, also lettuces, rhubarb, spring onions, etc. Fruit.—'Waimate strawberries are finished. Values throughout this season have been a record. The crop of stone fruit throughout Central Otago and ihe Teviot district has been exceptionally light this season, and only light consignments are reaching this market. The main crop will not be m until about three week’s time. Cherries are almost finished, and the tomato crop is fullv' a month later than last season, and ‘also a very light one owing to late frosts, , , . ' Potatoes. —During the week fair supplies of local potatoes have been on the market, and lines from the north have arrived! freely, 'and thq -values Jiave dropped considerably. Onions. —The market has been barely supplied of late, but a fair quantity from Melbourne arrived to-day by the Kaiapoi. This supply should meet requirements until Canterbury onions are placed; on this market. ( Oats, wheat, barley are m short sup■ply* Eggs.—Supplies have not been heavy of late, and values are firm. Nelson tomatoes and plums are arriving and selling at high rates. Peaches and apricots have also reached this market from) ‘ the monGhtfra province, but unfortunately have not opened up m good condition. Black currants and gooseberries are selling readily at quotations. Supplies duirJng the latter end of the week, and prices have dropped considerably. Local hothouse are firm at Is 8d to Is 9 2 d. Grapes and cucumbers are in short supply. ~ Report for week ending Friday:—

Brain, £6 10s ton. Pollard, £8 10s ton. Pearl barley, £25 10s ton. Oatmeal, £2O ton. Cheese, mild and mature, Hid lb. Eggs.—Stamped, is 5d dozen; cased, Is 5d dozen. . Butter. —Creamery pats, Is 03-d , creamery bulk, Is 5d lb; dairy end separator, Is 21d lb.; milled bulk, Is 3d. Honey. —Sections, Is 3d; bulk, white clover, 6d per lb. . Apples. Oravensteins, 4id' lb. ; Sturmers, 26s case; French Crabs, 18s case. ~ Cherry plums, 11s case of 18 lbs. Lemons (Nelson), 15s 6d case of 24 lbs.
