LONDON, Oct. 15.
Renter's correspondent at American Headquarters says:—The Americans yesterday moved the line to St. Georges and Landres St. Georges. After a bitter struggle eastward' of the Meuse we reached Sivry and' Magjieata Farm, and Romagnes. The Germans fought jjallatttly to hold back'lKe Americans; bringing np new Guards' diviisons. The Germans flooded the woods and ravines with mustard and lethal gausses.
/ Chatillon Wood, covering the high [hills south of Romagnes, was stubbornjly defended, the American's gaining the i summit in the evening after being re- | peatedly thrown back. A thousand prisoner* were sent bafck to the rear.

There. is a feeling amongst the Australian troops in London! that tho English newspapers and public! do not fully realise the part' the Australians have taken in the recent fighting. .It is claimed on then* behalf that credit can be taken for the (successful offensive policy commencing oh August Bth, which changed the Allied defensive policy into an offensive, paving' the way for the big advance which is still progressing.
They made the first serious. breach in the ifindenbui-g"' Line, and' the* six months' fighting, from March to. October captured 251 square iiiilets of tei-ritoiy, recaptured sixteen, tovviis and vilages and many other strong -"point's." They took 28,695 /prisoners and 332 guns. They met and defeated the equivalent to 73German inicmding those reappearing a second ;time;. The Australians' losses ' werQ much less than- the prisoners captured. ■
