SEQUEL TQ AUCKLAND-WEL-LINGTON MATCH.

WELLINGTON, This Day. The Wellington " Rugby . Union last night- commenced an inquiry ordered by the New Zealand Rugby Union in reference to alleged playing under amended rules in the Auckland v. Wel-
lington match on September 7th. Onlyfour, players appears!,' and after taking evidence it was resolved to suspend the following players till they appear :—Valentine, Christopherson, A.
Thomas, Aitken, Morris, Arthur Parker. Albert Parker, Eberhardt, Marks, * and B. Thomas. The players who were not suspended were: 'Porter, Nicholls. Tilyard, and Troy, who attended, and Tancred, who as away from Wellington. •Nicholls, the captain, . stated that he ■was not a party to ' any arrangement. He had been approached respecting a proposal that there be no charging of free kicks, and replied that he would leave the matter to the forwards. Troy - said he was not aware of any agreement. . Mr Griffiths, a member of the fingbv Union, stated that in his hearing the two captains agreed that there should be no charging of free kicks. Tilyard stated that Mr Griffiths ; told the Wellington team prior to the game that the captains had agreed that free lacks should not be charged.
