Mr J. H. Uru, 151.P. for the Southern Maori electorate, who- has been staying a.t the Tasman Hotel for the past week, left for Wellington by the Mapourika this morning.
A Press Association cable from London announces the death of Mr Robert Ro,ss, who was born in France in 1'869. Mi* Ross contributed signed and anonymous articles on art, literature, and the drama to a number of leading -English journals. He acted as adviser for the purchase of works of art under the Felton bequest for the Melbourne National i Gallery.
Mrs V. B. O'GTady, Franklyn Rise, has been adivisedi ithat fcer husband, L.-Corporal E. W. O'Grady, died _of wounds o-n Ist October. He left- with the 32nd Reinforcements, having -enlisted from Hastings where he -wag well known in foot-ball and rowing circles. Mrs O'Grady has lost one brother killed. Private Ashly Frost, and two other brothers have -been seriously l wounded-. Two young children as well as the •widow are left to mourn .the deceased loss. M Sling Camp L.-Cor-poral won the first prize in- the squad drill competition. x
