ST. JOHN AMBULANCE ASSOCIATION.

RED CROSS BRANCH.

The annual meeting of the Riwaka Branch of the St. John Ambulance Association, Red Cross Branch, was held at Mrs Greensil's, Riwaka, on 10th July. The report and balance sheet, were read and adopted. The election of officers resulted : President, 'Mrs C. Jenkins; Committee (reelected), Mesdamos Anderson, L. G. Duncan, D. E. Pry, G. Atkins, Jas. Cook, C. Tutbury, J*. D. Fowler, Street, J. Inglis, Greensil, Falconer, A. Askew, M. Askew, E. Scott, Satherlev, R, Rowling, Fauchelle, C Hart, W. Oweiu Briggs;, Snowden, Chittenden, Bai-net* Bate, Misses P. Everett, R. Tutbury, D. Drummond, C. McLean; secretary and treasurer, Mrs M. McNabb; Executive Committee, Mesdames J. Inglis, Greensil, Atkins, Duncan, and Anderson, to act in conjunction with the president and secretary. The hon. secretary presented the re-, port as follows: —The monthly collections for the year amount to £l2B 17s 9d, -exclusive of special donations and collections. For the "Our Day Appeal" the Branch combined with the Lady Liverpool Branch, and held a series of concerts and evenings, winding up with a gala day on October 17th, 1917, which resulted in the sum of £l5O 2s being forwarded to headquarters, Christchurch The sum of £llO has been paid to the Treasurer, Motueka Red Cross Branch, for remittance to Christchurch, in monthly instalments. A statement of the funds has been forwarded to the Officer in Charge. Department of Internal Affairs, Wellington, every quarter in accordance with the "War .Fund? Act, 1915." Sewing material of the value of £26 3s 2d was bought, and members made same up into garments.. for the Red Cross, which were forwarded to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington, in November last, for shipment to England; since when there has riot been any sewing done. In response to an appeal for honey, for use in hospitals, owing to it being late in season, only a small amount was collected, which has been forwarded to headquarters, Christchurch. The thanks" of the Committee are due to the Press, for publishing monthly lists, and to the Anchor and Union Shipping Companies for carriage of gift cases to WeTlingtoi"' and Christchurch; also to Mrs Greensil for use of room for meetings, and to all those who have assisted in any way. MOTUEKA. BRITISH SOLDIERS'- AN ID- SAILORS' BABIES' FUND. Mrs R. P. Hudson wishes to acknowledge the following subscriptions:—Dr. and Mrs Horrax £l, Rev. and Mrs L. Mackay £l, Mr Hugonin £l, "L." 10s 6d, Mr Anderson 10s, 'Mesdames Rhodes 10s, York ss, Gavin Strachan ss, Griffin ss, Livesey ss, H. Trewavas 3s, R. P. Hudson 2s 6d, Misses Deck 2s 6d, Turner 2s 6d, Mr R, P. Hudson 2s 6d ; total, £6 3s 6d. New and second-hand gai-ments have been contribaited by the following:— Mesdames Anderson, Reggie Hewetson, Lionel Boyes, Hudson, Griffin, ~F. H. Talbot. Misses Wallis, Deck, Esther, McG.aveston and Jean Fulton.

Fifty-six garments were received from ladies- of Stanley Brook and Tapawera as follows :—Mesdames Hanron, Hudson, Macmahon, Drummond, Evan Forsyth, TTiorn, Eyles, Patterson, 'Misses Macmahon, E. Macmahon, Ivy Thorn, L. Drummond and Jean Wilkinson.

The following have- made garments from material supplied by the Fund : Mesdames MarsTiall, Ch. Smith. Caigou, ■"F. H. Talbot, Hargreaves, Thorp, Lionel Boyes, Griffin, Hudson, Misses Gumming.'Deck, G. Jordan and Desaunais. A"draft for £lO was forwarded to tVChurch Army, making a total of £4O. together with 590 garments sent Home during the six months ending 30th June.
