CHRISTOH.U.RC'H, July 16 I'lio German bells that have him.- in the tower of the old German Church at the corner of Hereford and ' Monti-tvil streets for many years, will be tak.-u down, in accordance with the iustnu tions of the Acting-Prime Mini-der. They were obtained by Mr Ruddenkhu. formerly a. prominent citizen of this <:itv at one time 'Mayor. About 40 years ago he visited Germany. It was comparatively a few years after the Franc.)German War. A Germaji' church-had been established in Christchurch, and the bells, made oufc of French cannon captured during that war, were presented to Christchurch by the Emperor William, grandfather of.the present Kaiser.
