RETURNED SOLDIERS' BALL

A GREAT SUCCESS.

There were over 2<X> «>uples present, and the gallery was filled with spectators. The music was supplied by Miss Fowler, Messrs Jos Vitetta, 1. Louisson, and Mockler. Messrs Carrol Harley, F. McCabe, H Saund«rs iun. were the M.C.'s. A splendid supper was provided by the ladies committee, to whom the best thanks of th© Asociation are accorded. In last night's success the AeociaiJon will hold another 'ball during the 'seasonl i Added interest was lent _ by. the presence of Lieutenant Prickle ton, ol Blackball, who was awarded the Victoria Cross. During an interval in the dancing the Mayor (Mir W. _W. Snodgrass)-, on, behalf of the citizens and the Returned Soldiers' Association, tended a very cordial welcome to Lieutenant Frickleton, and remarked that his presence honoured the gathering. The Mayor also made graceful allusion to the mother of the hero, and mentioned the fact that _ all five of her sons were serving, and, I 'at the conclusion of his remarks hearty cheers were given for Lieutenant Frickleton and' his mother. Lieutenant Frickleton, i'l making liis acknowledgments, spoko with becoming modesty, and bespoke for all those ' soldiers , who hod done their duty for their Country eq-ual recognition and consideration from-the public to that which had' been bestowed upon himself. ■ -
