The sausage roll .competition, hold at the Helping Hand Shop yesterday proved a great success, both asi regards oualitv and quantity. The judging was done 'by Mr M. iLevy, and the first prize was won by Mrs Emms. Mrs O. A. Green and Mrs J. D. ißobb were equal for the second prize. Mrs Page was very highly commended. The first prize was 'provided' by an anonymous donor, and the second .was given by Mrs Toswill.
The wood competition for the boys was not as well contested asi it should have been. Some of the bundles were well cut anld tied. The first prize was* won by G. Burridge, the second by W. Biiridge, and A. Hollyman highly commended. The prizes were given by Mr F. G. Gibbs-, and the wood was kindly supplied bv Mrs McTaggai-t. 'The Red: Cross Fund benefits to the extent of £2B for the day. Out of this amount £l. 5s 6d was received in donations. The expenses were 15s 2d-. Good contributions were received from the ladies' at Spring Grove, and from the ladies in the city whose turn it was to give. The- committee thank them 'for their help, and they -also thank the. gentlemen at Wakefield who sent in a number of hares. Contribu'tions were received from Wakefield, Richmond, Stoke, Talumamii,, the Port, Wakapuaka, Atawhai. College girl;--. Girls' Central (sth Standard).
