McKarlane, and J- King "Correspondence was received and i dealt with as follows: From the Nelson Education Board, stating (1) that the board would be ■pleased to receive information from the committee as. to the total amount of financial support forthcoming -tow at* the cost of erecting the Techmca. School at '.Motueka, sketch plan,, -jd? ■which would be prepared and suhmittigj to the committee for comment; {£ that capitation earned by book-keeping and domestt? science 'classes is applied towards the payment of salaries of lnetructor: and that allowance for the use of domestic science room' last year -•would be remitted, if not already paid; (3} that Messrs Baigent and Symw had bet-n written to. asking them to <ommuni -ate w?th the committee regarding the proposed interview in connection with the relationship between the teaching staff add- the committee. The secretary state* that .mformation with regard to financial support already vouchsafed towards the cost of the Technical School had been sent to the board. ■'■ .... , It was resolved that application' be made to the board for allowance for use of the domestic s«~cience room for last year. Resolved, that the board be written. to regarding sketch plans for the proposed Technical School, asking when the committee may have the pleasure of viewing them. Resolved that the committee regret the failure of Messrs- Baigent and gvmes to carry out* their part- of the arrangement (referring to the boardVf letter/ No. 3); and their omission. to motifv the . committee. —Eight member* voted for this resolution, Mr Bouridy dissenting. From the secretary, Tasman School Committee (Mr T. T. Wards), asking to what extent s'ates had replaced writing paper in the lnj"al "school. —Information to be furnished. The headmaster reported the roll number of pupils as follows :—Motuekp pj mary 240, «?condh,ry 35; Whaicajrewa. 42; total. 317. *The average attendance for the quarted ended June 30th was 287, equal to 90 per cent, of the total roll number of pupils. Attention! was drawn to a list of requirement at the school. The . sub-committee was authorised to purchase'school requisites; and other matters mentioned in the report were freferredl to the Works : Committee.. "With regard to the acquisition of additional playing area for the school, it was resolved that the board be asked for a (Statement &■* to what progress..had be°n made in this matter. The 'of grading the school ground was left in the hands of the' "Works Committee .with power 1o act. Accounts amounting to £6 6s> 9d were passed for payment.
