NELSON RETURNED SOLDIERS' ASSOCIATION.

»——.«r ' — : —- MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. A meeting- of the Executive was held on Saturday evening, there being a full attendance of members. Twenty new members were elected. A letter was received from general headquarters regarding -members- in arrears; ■ The annual subscription became due on the Ist May; Advice was also received as to., procedure lo be adopted' in the case of lose of badge by a member..The secretary advised" that he had now received a supply of badges. Mr MeCaoo. who recently visited Wellington, and was* deputed to inter view the vjeuera-l Secretary regarding financial and others matters, reported to the meeting. Satisfaction was ex pressed at the success of Ml- McCabe's mission and a hearty vote of thanks was accorded him. The social committee reported considerable progress in connection "with the ball to be held at the Provincial Hall on Friday imxt. A strong ladies'' committee was at work; tickets -were selling very freely, and a highly euc cessful function could be anticipated. In connection with the Italian Red Cross effort to be made on August sth, the Association, itl addition to participating in the procession, were asked to take charge of the Copper Trail (round the "Park track:) and enter for Rugby Union seveu-a-side. It was decided to do this and sub-committees were "set up. The matter of securing more commodious club rooms was discussed. The need of them was unanimously recognised, and a sub-committee to make preliminary enquiries was set up. r>;leeatea from the Committee were appointed to visit returned men in hospital each week. The secretary stated that circulars' dealing with matters of enrolment and arrangement n connection with the luncheon to oe given by the patriotic societies on August sth> • 'had been sent out to all returned soldiers in the district whoso addresses were known, j A vote of thanks to the chair terminated the meeting.
