<»» BRITISH ,RFJD CROSS. ORDER OF ST. JOHN. MOTUEKA SUB-CENTRE. The hon. secretary (Miss IT. "Ryder) submitted: the following half-yearly report :—ln submitting the half-yearly report and balance sheet, the Committee of the Motueka Branch of the Red Cross Society thank those who in various ways have helped towards the success of this patriotic undertaking in their township. This is now the third year, and though some helpers have fallen off, through leaving the place, sickness or other causes, still those who have remained have never slackened from their efforts, and deserve all praise and thanks. The afternoon tea on Saturdays and also on Thursdays has proved a great financial success and a great help. Ali who have cotnributed towards it in work or kind are heartily thanked. Thank/, are also due to those firms who have so kindly supplied firewood and also for free cartage of Red Cross goods to the wharf, etc. The large hamper of garments is still sent away every two or three months to Christchurch, and with substantial aid from Riwaka, £4O is remitted every month.

The Committee also wish to include Mr Mander,, who acts as auditor, Mr Kaiiarens, who acts as treasurer, and the Press (Motueka'and Nelson) among those deserving special thanks. The report is • signed by May Jaques (President) and Hilda'Ryder (Secretary). •The balance sheet submitted by Mr A. Kanarens, hon. treasurer, showed that subscriptions, donations, etc , amounted to £162 9s, and the Riwaka Branch £6. A balance of £2B 18s 2d had been brought forward. The sum of £2lO had. been remitted to Christ church, £2O paid 'for material, and £&* 17s 6d for rent, stationery, etc. The balance carried forward is £36 Is sd.
