With reference to a motion passed at a meeting of Auckland citizens advocating that the scheme of pensions for dependents -of military and naval men should be participated in by dependents of'men of the merchant service. Captain secretary of the Merchant Service Guild, states tl)at such action is. unecessarv. He showed a copy of a cable he had received from- the Hv Commissioner, stating that the i';"" all British ships, wherever registered were covered by the Board of Trade compensating scheme for deatn and injury of officers and men. He made tins imbue in order to ease the minds of dependents who might read the motion which was carried at Auckland.
