REPORTED BOMBARDMENT OF DOVER

NEW YORK, May 18. Passengers from England report that Dover was bombarded from Oetend by a German super-gun, but London officiary denies the report. MONTREAL, May 18. In connection with the Dover bombardment, it is stated that three shells were fired. The bombardment was mistaken for an air raid.

DESTRUCTION OF U=BOATS.
FOURTEEN SUNK IN APRIL.

NEW YORK, May ia It has been stated-from official sources /that twelve U-boats were sunk in British waters by British aiid American destroyers during April. ..... Two other U-boats are also known to have been sunk, one •while attacking a convoy going to Holland. The other rose up between two American transports carrying troops to France. A torpedo missed a transport by a few feet, and thq U-boat was destroyed by depth bombs from a destroyer. PARIS, May 17. Admiral Wilson, commanding the American naval forces in French waters, states that as a result of French and American anti-submarine • warfare there -were no cases of torpedoing •in February, and April in the waters in which the; /American warships were operating, as' compared with 34 in October, 1917. ,
